Performance Foodservice — NorthCenter is a strong supporter of Impact2032 and is proud to highlight the initiatives undertaken in day-to-day operations and culture.

The health and well-being of associates are a vital part of company culture. The breakrooms provide a marketplace set up where associates can purchase meals and snacks at reasonable prices. More importantly, they also receive free healthy snack options including cereal, oatmeal, fruit, and other nutritional items. Water coolers and refrigerators are also supplied for associate use. A healthy start to the day makes for a more productive and satisfying day all around.

Performance Foodservice – NorthCenter has partnered with a local fitness center to provide associates discounted gym memberships. Additionally, the business is fortunate to have a corporate wellness program available to assist associates looking into weight loss, smoking cessation, and exercise routines. Virtual support teams are available to schedule one-on-one sessions at their convenience. The facility is also laid out in a way where there are plenty of walking opportunities between parking lot, stairs, and the building itself—a feature jokingly referred to as the associates’ “built in wellness program.”

The overall health plan offers basic dental, healthcare, free Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and different insurance plan options for the home, family, and even pet care.

Performance Foodservice – NorthCenter holds bi-annual town hall meetings with associates to bring them up to date with state of the company information. It is also a time when the business discusses 401k and PFG Stock program that are available to employees to take advantage of, encouraging them to save for the future. President Michele Pelletier offers to personally sit with anyone who wishes to walk through the enrollment process. The financial stability of associates is important to the organization.

Many supervisors have attended leadership programs, both locally and at the corporate level. In fact, many of the management team have been brought through the ranks of the company. Michele Pelletier, for instance who started in the accounting department and worked her way through as vice president of procurement, operations, sales & marketing and promoted to president in 2018.

Beyond our company obligations, Performance Foodservice — NorthCenter is very much a visible and viable member of the community and beyond. Whether volunteer work on boards, associations, or committees including the United Way of Kennebec Valley, the business takes pride in being a strong advocate for the wellbeing and bench strength for others. Michele Pelletier and her husband Dan Webster just came off as co-chairs for this year’s fundraising campaign. They were highly successful in obtaining their goal of $1.9 million. It is the dedicated efforts of individuals of many but more importantly it comes straight from the top knowing it is the way of life and culture the organization brings to the community and its effort of Impact 2032 and beyond.
