Southern Kennebec Child Development Corporation (SKCDC) is pleased to be part of the community efforts supported through Impact2032. The agency specifically supports the Impact2032 vision for education through its Head Start programming.
Head Start programs support children’s growth from birth to age five with services that promote early learning and development, health, and family well-being. Head Start staff actively engage parents, recognizing family participation throughout the program as key to strong child outcomes. SKCDC offers Head Start services at no cost to children ages birth to five and also serves expectant families. The agency provides both center-based and home-based program options, continually working toward the Head Start mission of delivering high-quality services in safe and healthy settings to prepare children for school and life.
Collaboration with Impact2032 has enabled SKCDC to strengthen community partnerships and enhance the support provided to children and families. Recent examples include:
- Welcoming Cony High School students for the Day of Caring, enriching the program with their volunteerism and enthusiasm
- Regular visits from the Lithgow Library children’s librarian support literacy from the start and build a sense of community.
- Through a partnership with the Good Shepard Food Bank and other community organizations, SKCDC hosted a food pop-up event that made 10,000 pounds of food available to the greater Gardiner community in response to the temporary closure of the local grocery store.
SKCDC looks forward to future collaborations and continuing to support the Impact2032 vision for education and community well-being.
