Impact2032 Spotlight – Project Fresh Start

Toys and books for kids on a shelfProject Fresh Start (PFS) provides free household items to people who need them. Community members donate new and gently used items which are then given away to people in need. The clientele can include people starting over and people experiencing financial difficulties. The organization supports a variety of people  including individuals, families, and children. It is the volunteers’ philosophy that the world has plenty of “stuff” and they can help get it in the hands of those who need it most.

As part of the commitment to the goals of Impact2032, Project Fresh Start has created a program that supports literacy and learning for children. This commitment aligns with Impact2032’s educational goals and will benefit the youth in the community without financial barriers. The organization restructured its existing free toy area which now includes many items that can be used for educational purposes and encourages its youngest clients to pick out as many items from this area as they would like.

In early December 2023, Project Fresh Start held a free give away of holiday decorations, books, and toys. The event was attended by 78 households representing 192 children. It was an occasion where literally hundreds of children’s books went out into the community—a huge success. In early March of this year, the organization held a gigantic free book giveaway of donated books. Again, hundreds of free children’s books went out into the community and into the hands of parents, children, and educators.

What next? Project Fresh Start will be reaching out to intentionally partner with teachers and those who are homeschooling to further get those books out into classrooms in schools and in homes.  This is how the magic works—community members donate new or gently used books and learning tools. The organization serves as a conduit for getting free learning opportunities out into the community.  Supporting Impact2032 is just that easy!
