Impact2032 Spotlight: Kents Hill

Kents Hill School is an independent, coeducational boarding and day school grades nine through post-graduate, serving 220 students from Maine, across the United States, and around the world. What sets Kents Hill apart from other top schools is its unwavering focus on creating a supportive, integrated and individualized student experience, while simultaneously teaching essential life skills to prepare students for success far beyond campus.

Through innovative programs and a holistic approach to education and workforce development, Kents Hill emphasizes financial stability as a key factor in achieving long-term personal and professional success. Students receive instruction in financial literacy and employability through classes and workshops covering resume building, public speaking and professional communication. Rather than viewing a traditional four-year college education as the only option, the school’s College Counseling Office supports diverse post-graduate paths, including community college, military, gap years or other pursuits. For college-bound students, the College Counseling Office offers guidance in financial planning and navigating the complexities of higher education costs.

Kents Hill also invests in its employees, who benefit from tuition assistance programs, paid time off for professional development and a comprehensive benefits package. A robust Employee Assistance Program (EAP) supports financial wellbeing with resources on retirement planning, elder care and managing life’s unexpected financial challenges.

To ensure competitive compensation, the school conducts regular salary benchmarking and reviews job descriptions to promote fair, equitable hiring practices that remove unnecessary barriers to employment.

In support of workforce stability, Kents Hill partners  with Building Bridges Childcare to prioritize access to childcare for its employees. Family-friendly policies, such as allowing children in the workplace during public school closures and offering temporary accommodations during inclement weather, create a flexible and supportive work environment.

Looking ahead, Kents Hill School plans to expand mentorship, job training and shadowing opportunities. Through these efforts, the school is building a financially stable, inclusive community that supports the success of every member.
