Impact2032 Highlight – Team EJP

Established in 2006, the University of Prescott, a paid waterworks apprenticeship, has evolved from a two-year to a one-year program, packed with a highly regulated schedule to ensure coverage in all areas (sales, operations, management, delivery, warehouse, yard, etc.).

Apprentices are matched with a mentor who assists in adjusting to proper work etiquette, creating schedules, providing guidance, and beyond. The improved program even tailors the curriculum to the apprentice, helping them to find what they are good at and build the confidence to apply for the positions within the company upon graduation. Jobs upon graduation are guaranteed. While relocation is not always required, some travel is still necessary.

A spike in applications and new hires following the changes indicates the success of these improvements. With Liz Weiss, Training and Education Director overseeing the UP program, Team EJP is looking forward to seeing where the unique waterworks apprenticeship will go and what the graduates will do! “One of the best parts of my job is watching people who are in different places and stages of their lives find what they enjoy doing and helping them make a career out of it. This program is all about helping people discover who they are and showing them the potential of what they can become down the road,” shares Weiss.
